Our History

Asher Prior Bates solicitors in Colchester was founded in the 1870′s by well-respected lawyer, Colchestrian and at one time Mayor of Colchester.

Asher Prior at that time was positioned in the heart of Colchester in Head Street. Asher Prior’s son Basil joined the firm which later became known as Asher Prior and Sons.

Roger Buston

In 1986 the firm was taken on by specialist property lawyer and serving TA Officer, Roger Buston. It moved to Crouch Street, where you find it today and from this point became known as Asher Prior Bates.

Since this time the Colchester law firm has grown in both practical knowledge and professional expertise, providing clients with a fast, reliable, and affordable service. Although the firm was traditionally known for its Residential and Commercial (Conveyancing)Property services, it has expanded and now has well established Employment Law, Family Law, Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Private client teams including Wills and Probate, Trusts and Estate Planning
