Making a will ensures that the bereaved family does not have to cope with uncertainty and minimises potential conflict. Whilst some wills can be straight forward to put together, others need more time and expertise dedicated to them; such as for couples who are not married and own property together, or for those with more extended families.

Lasting Power of Attorney

Should anything happen to you, leaving you unable to look after and manage your own affairs, a lasting power of attorney is useful to have in place. This enables your attorney to take responsibility for your legal and financial affairs. Although often considered as a tool for elderly, it is in fact useful for all to think about as unexpected accidents can occur.

Probate

At Asher Prior Bates our Private Client team handles all aspects of managing your estate. This includes providing a probate service for people who have and have not left a will. Depending on the complexity of the estate, this can involve dealing with the Probate Registry, HM Revenue and Customs and the payment of inheritance tax.

We are able to provide clients with a full administration service or a more limited service depending on their requirements. We also have a Litigation and Dispute Resolution team headed by Michael Hicks who can handle contentious probate cases if needed.
