Peter Herriott

Position: Head of Private Client department

Peter qualified as a Solicitor in 1981 after graduating with a law degree from Bristol.  He joined Asher Prior Bates in July 2012 as a self employed consultant to head their Private Client department.  He brings with him over thirty years experience as a Solicitor working in the field of  Wills, Probate, Trusts and Tax with clients across Essex and Suffolk.  He is a longstanding member of both the Private Client Section of the Law Society and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Peter was previously with Partridge and Wilson in Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk for eleven years (the last eight as an equity partner), and before that worked for twelve years for Gudgeons Prentice in Stowmarket.

His areas of expertise are drafting wills and trusts with a view to effective transfer of property to the next generation with regard to tax and personal circumstances, and the administration of the estates of persons who have died both with and without wills. He is also experienced in Court of Protection work, including the preparation of lasting powers of attorney.

Outside Interests: Peter is married and has a twenty one year old daughter. He lives in the village of West Stow which is just outside Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. His main interests are sporting.  He is a keen tennis player playing matches all over East Anglia, and has since the sixties supported Chelsea FC.  He also enjoys reading, the theatre and hill walking.
